Microsoft Office 2000 Course Outlines
Course customization There is virtually no such thing as a "stock" course at Fox Valley Computing; weve never believed in "one size fits all." We always strive to answer relevant student questions, and relate the software to the students (and your organizations!) specific needs. Following are general course outlines for training at your site. We say "general" because every clients training needs are different. We will be happy to perform a thorough needs analysis and propose a training solution package that is unique to your organizations needs. Many times, more formal customization of our courseware is desired. We can customize the topics, combine lessons from multiple books, even print your company logo on the cover. We will be happy to assess your needs and make recommendations accordingly.
Microsoft Office 2000: New Features Performance-based objectives
* Use and customize components of the interface common to all Office 2000 programs, including the Office Assistant and online Help, adaptive menus and toolbars, and common dialog boxes. * Use new features of Word 2000, Excel 2000, and PowerPoint 2000 that make it faster and easier to perform everyday tasks. * Use new and improved features across the suite, including the Clipboard toolbar, ClipArt Gallery, and email tools. * Complete basic Web authoring tasks in Office 2000 including saving, previewing, and managing HTML files; create Web documents in each Office program that take advantage of new features related to Web authoring. * Use advanced techniques for working with styles. * Create and use templates and forms. * Enhance documents by drawing in a document and using clip art and WordArt. * Manage long documents by adding a table of contents, an index, bookmarks, cross-references, and odd and even headers and footers, and by adjusting margins for document binding. * Manage document changes by creating different versions of a document, tracking document changes, adding comments, and accepting or rejecting document changes. * Prepare a document for an intranet by inserting hyperlinks, sound, a movie clip, and scrolling text into a web page. * Identify the disadvantages of paper spreadsheets and the advantages of electronic spreadsheets by exploring both. * Create a basic worksheet by entering text, values, and formulas. * Create formulas by using Excels built-in functions. * Move and copy data by using shortcut menus, drag-and-drop editing, and toolbar buttons. * Change the appearance of worksheet data by using a variety of formatting techniques. * Prepare a document for printing by using the spell checking feature and a variety of printing options. * Use the three-dimensional aspect of the Excel workbook environment by creating formulas that refer to cells on multiple worksheets. * Save an Excel workbook as a Web page. * Start the PowerPoint program, identify on-screen features, and navigate through a presentation. * Create and edit bullet slides. * Use PowerPoints drawing tools to create a slide. * Incorporate clip art and WordArt objects in a slide. * Create and enhance organization charts, and create and edits charts by using Microsoft Graph. * Change the overall appearance of a presentation by using design templates and the Slide Master. * Run a slide show, become familiar with slide show options, and add notes to a slide. * Preview and save a PowerPoint presentation as a Web page and open a locally stored presentation in Internet Explorer. Students will also be able to add and modify structural elements in an existing web. * Apply web page design concepts to create and modify web pages by using frames. * Build a web-based form to collect and store user data. * Modify pictures as well as add sound and web components (such as rotating banner ads, marquee text, and ActiveX controls) to their web pages. * Use reports and tasks to manage and collaborate on web site creation. * Animate text and format text and web pages with Dynamic HTML and style sheets. * Customize the Microsoft Office Shortcut Bar and use it to get help from the Office Assistant, open existing Office documents, and create new ones. * Use the Office Clipboard to copy and paste data between Office documents and create and edit links between Office applications. * Differentiate between embedding and linking, open and edit an embedded object, and use different methods to embed objects. * Leverage shared Microsoft Office 2000 features (hyperlinks) and tools (SpellChecker, AutoCorrect, WordArt, and clip art). * Use Microsoft Office Binder to modify and organize multiple documents. * Create a PowerPoint presentation based on a Word outline and existing slides, use the Meeting Minder, and preview a presentation as a Web page. * Use Outlook to track document activity, import an existing Access database, and use imported information in a Word mail merge. * Run macros and explain the basics of a Visual Basic Module. * Create relative and absolute recorded macros and assign macros to various objects in a workbook. * Write procedures that test conditions and then run only certain statements based on the results. * Write procedures that execute one or more lines of code repetitively. * Store Excel macros so they are available in any workbook. * Create macros in Word 2000. * Create macros that interact with the user.
